29+30 november 2013 Maastricht
profiling midwifery education by leadership & science
Welcome to the EMA education conference 2013 which will be organised by the European Midwives Association in cooperation with the Royal Dutch Organisation of Midwives (KNOV) and the Faculty of Midwifery Education and Studies Maastricht (Academie Verloskunde Maastricht –AVM).
When working in the field of maternity care, you will sooner or later meet students that have the same dreams as you once had: to become a midwife. Whether you are working as independent midwife, in a birth centre, a clinic or at a university, you soon find out that education is everywhere. And even if you have no contact with bachelor students, you will experience the fact that lifelong learning is essential if you take your job seriously.
This conference is meant for all of you who want to learn more about: the essence of midwifery education, coaching student midwives in their practical training, curriculum development and assessments, bringing research and education together, educating midwifery leadership and last but not least about EU education-regulation and -funding.
For the first time in the tradition of EMA education conferences, the 2013 edition gives you the opportunity to send in an abstract for a presentation or a workshop. Our scientific committee, led by the chair Marianne Nieuwenhuijze, will select the best abstracts that are submitted for a conference that midwives can be proud of.
This website provides all the necessary information. If you have any questions unanswered, please don’t hesitate to contact our organizing committee.
We are looking forward to welcoming you in the most beautiful city of the South of the Netherlands: Maastricht. Reserve the data in your agenda: November 29th-30st, 2013.
Mervi Jokinen, chair EMA
Rafael van Crimpen, dean AVM
Please note: the official language of the conference will be English, of course non native speakers are more than welcome.
